As a nurse for the past 12 years, I have always known the importance of good health and prevention of so many illnesses through exercise. Because my health has been so important to me, I have pursued many different types of activities in an effort to keep myself young, healthy, and fit. Almost by accident, I started practicing Pilates at The Absolute Studio in 2007, and immediately fell in love with it.
After so many years of staying active, I really wasn't sure what to expect, but I quickly learned that this type of training is completely different than anything I had ever done. Although I was consistent in other types of training, there came a point where I just wasn't seeing any results. My goal of longer, leaner, more defined muscles just wasn't happening. So, in my pursuit of learning more about Yoga, I came across The Absolute Studio, and became intrigued with the way they taught Pilates. I signed up for private pilates training, not having any idea what a big part of my life it would become.
Soon after I began taking private sessions I saw results, and realized that this was exactly what I had been looking for. With my training as a nurse for 12 years, the focus on core muscles made perfect sense. Not only did I see the results I was looking forward to, but the lower back pain that I had experienced began to disappear. Finding relief from the pain that I had just accepted as a part of my life, was just an added bonus to this new form of exercise that I had already come to love.
When Christie and Michelle approached me about going into a training program to work with them, I realized just how much I DO believe in Pilates, and decided I wanted to help other people learn more about it, too. So I enrolled in the program, and spent the next year honing my skills.
Everyday, I find new ways to challenge myself, and my clients, and I know that this new passion that I have found will be a part of my life forever.
